Asharoken

In collaboration with Chef Rob Chiappone, Sara Mairead Landscape Design created a stunning Chef’s garden and dining space. Complete with pizza oven, smoker and BBQ, this space is ready to entertain! Native plantings are highlighted throughout the space, featuring a “Zen Butterfly Room” tucked within the garden. A perfect place to rest and enjoy a book or glass of wine.

Northport Village

This Northport resident desired beauty, benefit and maximization of the space.  An extended entertaining space complete with fire pit, one is sure to enjoy spending time poolside or dining al fresco.

Hillside Retreat

A hillside farm to table vision became reality for this client.  Creative solutions were necessary to bring this concept to reality, in a sloping backyard.  In collaboration with Chef Rob Chiappone, Sara Mairead Landscape Design created a Chef’s garden amongst retaining walls.  Native plantings were strategically incorporated to manage stormwater runoff and aid in persistent channeling on this hillside.

Backyard Refresh

A Greenlawn family desired a space that they could entertain, while addressing privacy concerns in a narrow backyard.  Preferring a classic brick patio, a beautiful privacy screen caps out the seating area.   A once passed over space, now provides the perfect ‘reading nook’ among Dogwood and Birch Trees.

What makes a community, a community?

Working to better our living landscape is a focus of Sara Mairead Landscape Design, but so is contributing on a greater level to the community in which Sara lives.  A coastal setting, the waterways in Northport, NY have become threatened by the increasing number of heavy rains – meaning an increase in nitrogen in the harbor due to stormwater runoff.

In 2020, Sara and two colleagues decided to found Northport Native Garden Initiative to educate on factors affecting our living landscape, specifically the important role that native plants provide.  Evolving into a much larger movement than expected, NNGI has assisted on the design and installation of projects throughout the greater Northport area.  Whether working with the school districts, local scout projects or with other not-for-profits, Sara thoroughly finds joy in helping her community.
